Intrada announces the CD release of Thomas Newman’s score to Netflix’s The Thursday Murder Club. Newman brings to the light-hearteded concept a delicate and quirky score as only he can deliver. Focused primarily on strings, piano and winds with occasional participation of the brass, the tone is warm and whimsical. But there’s real murder and mystery here, so Newman’s score plays into that aspect as well. The Club itself has its own theme for the dedication of the four friends to their club. This release mirrors the previously released 24-track digital edition, featuring 40 minutes of score produced by the composer.

Based on Richard Osman’s international bestselling novel of the same name, The Thursday Murder Club follows four irrepressible retirees—Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley) and Joyce (Celia Imrie)—who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun. When an unexplained death occurs on their own doorstep, their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn as they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands. Directed by Chris Columbus, the film is the latest to be produced through the Netflix and Amblin Entertainment partnership.
